Background

The event is played in a different country every year. Cook Islanders from around the globe travel to compete in this tournament. The tournament is played as a 36-hole stroke play championship. A qualifying round is played to select the draw for the championship. The tournament included mens, ladies, veterans and juniors sections. A gold and green jacket is awarded to the mens and ladies winners.
The first championship was played in Melbourne, Australia in 2000. In 2001, it was held in Auckland , New Zealand. In 2002, it was held in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. In 2003, it was held in Tokoroa, New Zealand. It was decided at this tournament that the next one to be held in Brisbane, Australia in 2005.
